Birthday girl

The best mom ever is 88 as of January 31st. She said she was born so close to midnight that she was almost on the 30th. A house on Congress Street in downtown Jackson was the site of her birth. My grandmother told her over the years that her father was in the room with her during the birth. Quite progressive for the day I think. We decided she needed balloons to celebrate. We all  showed up at her door at once with the cutest one delivering the balloons.

He walked  in...

...and handed them over so sweetly.

Isn't she cute. Surely not 88.

flowers too.

A neighbor walked by and said "they put that 88 out for all to see!?!?!". Mom said she loved it and was not ashamed. Oh, by the way if anyone was counting she got 40 birthday cards and that is not counting family ones!

Checking out the new fish and old clock.

After that we took her out for gyros at local  Greek place. We had a bit of difficulty since there were 12 of us but we rallied and went to a different Greek restaurant. Our numbers can be unwieldy. All you have to do is say party (or Mamaw) and we show up in mass. Happy birthday, Mom.

  1. Amy, I feel like I had another party this morning (,via your blog). You do such a wonderful job with pictures and you can really capture the story in words. Talent everywhere---that is my daughter. Thank you and I love you. MOM

  2. Jeff n I called her..not sure she caught on as to who we were...speaker phones can be a little distorted sounding. Looks like y'all had fun, maybe next year we (the other side) can go too!
