Rest In Peace

Well, looks like the party is over for Mr. Stinkhorn. What a brief life.

Up next was this little (about the size of a large egg) gray one

As I was kneeling to take it’s picture , Coco came to investigate and knocked it over. That revealed a little baby underneath.

Got our fence fixed. That is our section on the left. Apparently our neighbor called in a group of kindergartners to repair her section. Ivy said it looked like it belonged in PeeWee’s playhouse. Oh well. It keeps dogs in.

Pewww

Did you expect to see that?!! Me either. It was in the very back corner of the yard near where I found the Devil’s Urns. It is an Elegant Stinkhorn. And it really does stink. The smell attracts flies who then take away the spores on their legs. Free distribution.

Fungi update

Fresh from the bed Chris laid.

They are so pretty.

These gel ones were pretty cool in the backyard.

Not edible.

Just a little white guy.

Look at these tentacle ones on a decaying stump.

They were really interesting close up.

Fellow enthusiast.

Swimming hole open for the season. They love it.

Swimming always tired them out.

How long can she be?

Giving me the side eye.

New chew toys.

Matthew and his dog Armani gave Coco this toy.

Hee hee.

There was some disagreement over whose toy it was.

Natural disaster

So a storm came through and wreaked a bit of havoc all across our area. Our neighbor’s huge tree fell and crushed part of our fence.

Also took out a tree, cable and electricity.

We were without power for a day and a half. Ed made a fire for light.

A little lantern to read by. Fine with me.  It has taken weeks to get it all put back right and the neighbor’s section is still a mess. The worst part was keeping the dogs in the yard. Yikes.

We had already planned our Mother’s Day campout so we left poor Ed to deal with the yard.  Dogs got boarded for the weekend. Hugh White State Park was great.

We had the most gorgeous view. Lots of sitting around reading and talking.

Enjoyed Joe’s t shirt.

And the fire that proved the point.

We had so much fun.

Linda brought some old Easter lights I used to make fun of.

When lit they have scary red eyes.

Sunset.

Got to credit Joe for these two.

Doggone it

Just another entry in the dog destruction chronicles.

This lovely trail led all the way from half bath to den before I picked it up. And heck yes I rerolled it.

Sandy got this full sized piece of firewood.

Of course Coco got in on it too.

We aren’t even completely sure what this is but it’s over 3 feet long. Plastic.

Wondered why my spiderwort wasn’t blooming. On closer inspection I see the tips are bitten off. Dogs again.

Sandy likes ice like Truffles did.
