First of the season

First fire. Keeping it small because it’s so dry outside.

First candle too.

After Mary Grace’s haircut today , we tried a new place.

Brisket sandwich was good.

Cold finally comes and the food.

Guess this little guy got cold. We have been trying to catch him before a cat or dog does. Jan and I braved the weather
( at least she did, I was fine ) to take a walk this morning.

Came home and made homemade chicken noodle soup. I saved you some, Mom.

Then I made oatmeal cookies. What next.

I’ve acquired a taste for roasted butternut squash and sweet potatoes. Better for me than tater tot’s.

I thought the dogs had discovered every missing old tennis ball in the backyard. The drought has really affected the ground covers so things are showing up.

I’ve been forced to play with the dog’s ears for entertainment.

And every time I get up from reading Sandy steals my chair.

Doggy stuff….and foood

In case you are feeling sorry for Sandy in regards to Coco’s chair…don’t.

She manages to get comfy most anywhere.

Even the floor.

Things can get rowdy.

The chair.

Remember the chair Ed was measuring for? Well here it is. Think it’s big enough?  I told him it looks like I’ve got a big ole fat husband.

Hard to tell when she is over there.

She was afraid of it.

Then she tried it.

Uh oh.  He may have measured the wrong way.

Success.

Book club.

Kathy usually has a fall month book club which is great because she loves fall things.

Pretty table.

Pumpkins and handmade Italian candles.

Delicious root vegetable soup and salad with apple, blueberries, dried cherries and nuts.

Dessert was so pretty that I took 2 pictures of it. Chocolate dipped cheesecake.

Served with cherry compote. See the actual gold flakes on it? The book we read, Tom Lake, by Ann Patchett, was set on a cherry farm. We learned all about cherry picking!

Mac was a precious beggar.

Speaking of dogs.

The hole was back.

And enjoyed by all.

Measuring up

Ed has been researching for a chair to share with Coco.

Got to be sure it all fits. 😆

Got to do some arrangements for someone.

Turned out well.

There is a skeleton of a dead azalea in our yard. The dogs love to chew on it and break off pieces.

They took turns doing it. Lazy chewing. No bending over.

Posing.

This is why Ed has been researching extra wide recliners. Might need to look for a lint roller too.

Car show.

Wanted to get outside in the beautiful day. There was a European car show at Renaissance.

It was a lot of fun. Beautiful cars and weather. Mary Grace , Ryan and their friends the Jones.

This looked almost like the one Vick had in college. I’m pretty sure you couldn’t see the street through the floorboards of this one like we could in hers. We loved that little car when it worked.

We got to enjoy the results of the partial eclipse.  See the crescent shaped shadows and light?

It was fun showing the kids.

Lumen always watches out for Mary Grace. So sweet.

I couldn’t get enough of the light.

Fair

Yep. We went to the Fair. Mary Grace , Vick and I. Lovely cool temps. First stop …Penn’s chicken on a stick for Vick and I. Then rib eye sandwich for MG. No pics. We just dug in.

Petting zoo next.

So sweet.

They all loved her (and her carrots).

Back home.

Snooze.

Chris and Gibbs.

Acorn muffins. Carrot apple coconut pecans. So good.

Tonight.

Girl feet.
