More fall things

Ok. So what looked beautiful a few days ago looks vaguely frightening now that the berries are emerging.

A couple of more days later.

Another sign of fall.

Gorgeous flowers from Chris’s garden. It is one huge zinnia plant as tall as I am!

How about some cute dog pics.

Glad I got those clean towels folded up nicely for Pepper.

Ju ju with the pretty blue green eyes and a dog foot out of his back.

And my little pumpkin spice roll.

Where did September go?

Let’s start with a great fall pic. The dogs chewed this magnolia cone so that the seeds were exposed. I thought it looked beautiful.

Also a sign of fall. The dogs trampled a nandina bush so I rescued the berries.

As they were coming up.

Why does this thrill me so! 36%! That’s pretty good.

Got a visit from these two!! Enjoyed it so much.

Ivy found me a rare blue Fire King Restaurantware bowl. I filled it with asparagus salad.

Coco is looking at how Sandy has burritos on her mind.

A couple of weeks ago Bev came for a visit. Amy had us over for an unexpected pocket of fun.

She decided to break out Grandma’s party dishes. It’s the kind with a spot for your cup. Ours contained mimosas instead of coffee.

Cat lady

Wanted to do this blog separately since it was so cute.

As you know, Mom is responsible for decorating a table on her hall. She picked cats as a theme.

Mom had several but Jan brought Cary’s beanie babies to join in.

There is little Bitsy right there in the middle.

Someone left this little chair there at some point so it is incorporated in too. She makes lots of folks smile.

Holiday food

Every day is a holiday when you are retired. But Ed and I both prepared meat for tonight. Oops. He rubbed ribs and I prepped chicken wings. Decided to just cook them both today and then no cooking tomorrow, Labor Day.

Tried a new method where you make a rub which includes baking powder. Supposed to make them crispy.

Turns out, it worked.  Will douse them with Ranch dressing and Frank’s hot sauce. Wait no Ranch! Sure don’t want to go to the store.

Made my own!!

I was craving potato salad so I had to make that too. Love these little yellow bowls Mom bought me back when Target was new in town. We couldn’t get enough of it.

Ed’s ribs look good too.

Goodbye to another icon. My front porch swing rotted through. Had lots of good times there. From having a G&T out there when we were the only house here in the woods to watching the shows the kids loved to put on for me there.
