Birthdays

We have 3 birthdays in January. Paul, Ryan and Mom. Gotta have a party. What started as just an after church get together grew legs and took off running. When asked what he wanted he jokingly threw out the idea of High Tea. Ryan really does love tea though. Mom also loves tea and cute tea pots. So that’s how it went.

Gathered our cups and saucers. Sophie graciously agreed to host.

Mom’s cute tea pots.

This one was Mamaw Brown’s.

Along with other tea things.

Forgot to take pictures until we had destroyed the finger sandwiches.

Cucumber sandwiches were a lot of trouble but worth it.

Jan made yummy tomato ones.

But the icing on the cake was the Browns came! Kathy called me to say they wanted to visit Aunt Dot on her birthday. I said come over!

Our crew.

Brown crew.

Girls.

And all our giant boys with tiny Mamaw.

Mom wanted this one. Wish our number one was with us but this party happened so fast. Happy 96th Mom!

One last pic for y’all of sweet Bobbin. Love this cat!

Take me back to San Francisco

It’s coming up on our 40th anniversary. Ed surprised me with a trip to San Francisco in a couple of weeks. We went there about a year after we got married and always wanted to go back. We look like babies.

What a cutie. He loved those cotton sweaters.

I was going for the Miami Vice look. I took better pictures than I posed for them.

Anjou redecorated. No more dark. They added a few new menu items.

This kid takes worse pictures than me.

I love her little zig zag.

When you pay $1.49 for a piece of fruit it better be good. It was.

A little dog and his shadow. Mary Grace said he follows this sun spot all the way across the rug and bed as it moves through the morning. It’s from the arched window in their bedroom.

Harassment

I have been receiving complaints about lack of blog posts. I thought that was over when we lost Candy. She made a New Year’s resolution  Every year not to bug me about it. So I’m back with possibly boring content.

New mantel. I like white in January.

Crockpot black eyed peas for New Year luck. None so far.

What could make lil smokies better? Ed decided brown sugar and bacon would. He was right

Driving home from Amy2’s last week.

Biannual resident’s party.

Pretty slim pickings in January. The red is from our wild huckleberry bushes.

It all looked prettier in person.

I ended up supplementing with some faux things from Hobby Lobby to the tune of “Be Thou my Vision” and “Finlandia”.

Lovely table at Sue’s for Book Club.

We read this. Every American should read this. It’s about the fall of communism in Romania in 1989. A horrible dictator starved and killed so many Romanians. The story is shockingly little known.

I’ll end on a cute note. And to all you non cat people…I’m not sorry.
