97, 39 and 40 something

Jan, Mary Grace and I took Mom to her favorite restaurant (Amerigo) on her birthday. Love that tiramisu. 

Book Club

Yucky rainy day but beautiful in Sue’s house. Look at this beautiful table. 

Yummy wine.

And the food! Arugula salad, smoked chicken, carrots, broccolini and that spread was made with ground cashews. I can’t even tell y’all how good it all tasted. Sue is a wizard with spices and flavors. Dang, I didn’t get a pic of the chess pie!

So cold. Even a little snow. Stayed inside from Sunday until Thursday. Read four books.

Had a fun time celebrating Julia’s 70th at Pulito. Loved it. 

Put together some wintery arrangements for church pot luck. 

Schlepped in. 

Can’t wait to have some good ole Methodist food tomorrow.

First of all. Got together with Margaret and Anna. Reminiscing about Candy. I can’t believe it’s coming up on 2 years. 

Little Juju. 

It’s cold outside and a draft kept coming through the door crack. The piggy worked but he looks a little judgey. 

Well you see how that went. 

Tried another. 

I think they thought I was showcasing toys.  

Pepper ( not photogenic) and I made navy bean soup. 

Hope it’s good. 

Mom taught me to do this. Gotta be sure it’s good.

Try to do better

I have resolved to do better with my eating. 

Those of y’all who know me, know I don’t care much for fruit. I love vegetables but fruit? Meh. So I’m going to give it a good try. I can’t eat it if it’s not even here. Hope they don’t fall victim to the “bowl of decay”. Now if I can just control my love for chocolate. 

Mom posted about the old song Where oh Where has my little dog gone….i know where mine is! surveying her kingdom. 

Pulled the old crockpot out. 

Old fashioned, kind of unhealthy but good. 

Working on Busted Biscuit in Raymond today. Color palate decided. 

Working on furniture. Getting close. Now having to lean on the artist. He has had a year but is just now getting on it. 🙄

Teriyaki chicken. 

Fried rice. 

Chinese cabbage. Kind of made it up. Rice vinegar, soy sauce, pinch of brown sugar and red pepper. Yum!

A keeper. 

Gone

Nope. It wasn’t a tornado. It was drought and pine beetles. We lost several big old pines this year and they had to come down. Fence didn’t fare well being removed for equipment. 

This one was at least 80 years old. 

It’s interesting that you can see the lean years and the years of great growth. 

Poor piggy got moved.

The dogs loved exploring all the new smells. 

One side of the twin trees died. Poor ting. 

Making an ice ring for funeral punch tomorrow. The 100 year old church member who passed away, was known for her church punch. After every event she took the remains home and froze them. There were possibly remnants of punch from 1974 in there. I’m making a fresh batch however. RIP Helen.
