...actually probably a little past time. My favorite chair is worn out. You may have seen it on the left side of the blog as my reading spot. It belonged to my grandmother Brown. I can still see her sitting in it polishing her nails with Cutex pink polish. It is so comfy and fits me perfectly. Yesterday Ryan was sweet enough to help me take it to the upholsterer's shop. So here is a brief history of the chair's different incarnations.
Present (for now)
Here it is the first time I got it recovered after I got it from Mamaw. Look how cool my first apartment (by myself) was. What is so funny is that I have resurrected most of that art and I'm almost back to that color scheme. Dad seems to be enjoying it. Here is a pic of Mom and the girls that same day.
Mom is probably the age I am now in that picture. Everyone had to have a bentwood rocker.
Here it is in the days of all things British and jewel tones. That was an English tapestry I just adored. That is my friend Marcia holding Sophie and her dog.
So for the next 3 weeks or so I will sit in this comfy rocker. It came from Mamaw's garage. I refinished it back in college. Mom had Red Deviled it harvest gold. Red Devil was the 1970's version of chalk paint.
Does anyone have a picture of the chair from when Mamaw had it?
Aren't old pictures worth a lot? I have no memory of that day at your apartment. That chair has a rich history. I am glad "you" got it. There was Truman sitting in it. He loved to keep up with his girls. Can't wait to see the chairs new togs. MOM
