then and now

So...the doorbell rings...I answer it...she is standing there waiting...

Sophie's preserved wedding dress. A little creepy? And yes I procrastinated a bit in having it done. So I set it on my bed and sent a text about it to Sophie. I turn around and look what happened.

Curiosity got the cat. Shooed him off and got my dress down so I could stack them together in my closet.

The 80's meets the 20 teens (is that what we call this decade?). We got married very close to 30 years apart. Hey her decade did not have little bows and cupids on the box. Mine is darker than hers. I'm not sure if it yellowed or was originally a different shade. The tape from back then is coming loose from mine. Hers is shrink wrapped .

So I went to get a ladder to put them away and came back to this ...

What a loser.

Goldilocks

Mary Grace , Ryan and I (with help from Joan and Candy) have been wedding venue shopping. We feel a little bit like Goldilocks trying to find the perfect fit.

This little Methodist church in the woods was beautiful.

but no electricity and plumbing makes it a little too primitive

Petrified forest. Gorgeous

But what if it rains?

This horse farm. Also fabulous

Too expensive and rain plans bump you into the gazillion dollar stable

Mynelle gardens. They tried it out. No lighting in the garden. They want an evening wedding.

Looked at several others. Will keep y'all posted. However pencil in November 1 on your calendars.

No good reason for this pic. Just a gorgeous new favorite potato substitute.

What is better than an unexpected gift at an unexpected time? Nothing

I had been teasing Lucy about how much I wanted her red, white and blue flip flops. I drove up to this on my mailbox. So sweet.

I apologize ahead of time for this , but it made me laugh. You know how I love word play.

Just saying..

More celebrations

We have so much to be thankful for and celebrate. We had the kids over for ribs and salmon Saturday. Ed's idea. Go figure. We added  Sophie's birthday party on for good measure. She will be 26 on the 28th.

Sharing her heartfelt card from MG and Ryan.

it was all good. I gave her a watering can for her new garden.

I like this scene of all our guys on the deck.

On Sunday we were invited to Ryan's parents house for dinner. They were celebrating 3 birthdays, one 90th, one 60th and one 31st. They added announcing Mary Grace and Ryan's engagement to his family. It was very sweet. To add to the fun, our being there was a surprise. I almost blew it the day before but Sophie covered for me. Ryan said obviously we were surprised or he would not have worn a porta-potty t-shirt.

You can imagine all the conversations this bride and maid of honor are having!

Sophie and I are having to give it to her in small pieces so she won't freak out.

The Patricks live on a beautiful lake. Here Ed is getting a tour and Sophie and Paul are canoodling on the pier after dinner at sunset.

Joan had this cute dessert along with a birthday cake.

Graduation

Looking back to this day a year ago, I can hardly believe all that has changed. So proud of her and only a few tears.

Waiting for her name to be called. Of course in the last seat. As Woolverton she is always called last. She said she had begun to feel like her name was AND Lucy Woolverton.

Chris is home from Sewanee and learned so much this year. In fact he knows way more than anyone else...especially his mother. Amazing.

Ok ...I am a bit of a loser as a photographer. I take lots of pictures of feet, fingers, floors , etc. But this was pretty spectacular. I took possibly a hundred pics as I walked to the car after taking this pic. I have culled them down for you to see. If I put them all hear it would be a movie. Enjoy. Chris's pants make it interesting.

Ahh...here we are. On to friend Virginia's house for a lovely brunch.

The house was beautiful with confederate jasmine blooming all across the balcony. The Cat in the Hat welcomed us in.

Virginia had set up a copy of the book, Oh, the Places You Will Go, for guests to sign. Note the nurse hat. She will be getting her RN at Springhill College in Mobile.

My little bunch enjoying Grillades and grits.

Dessert. What is better than a petit for?

Chris and Keven . I just missed a hug shot.

Keifer wants to know if he can open graduation bubbles. Of course you can.

Oops

Beautiful yard and fountain. I heard that after I left Keifer got in the fountain. Wish I had been there for that.

There is Candy, Virginia and Kelly Anna. Check out that huge live oak.

Chris and Kristina

Clowning around with Soph. Why is he in every picture? I must have been missing him.

the Grad

These girls were Lucy's babysitters. She now babysits THEIR kids.

My favorite picture of the day. I didn't realize that I was in the mirror, let alone that Ryan was dancing behind me . What a nut.

celebrate

Just a short post before I head to Lucy's graduation. It has been a long year for her with sadness and joy. I'm so proud of her. If only her dad could be here to see how beautifully she has risen to the occasion. sniff sniff.

Kicked off the pool season with a little celebration with Ryan's mom, Joan and friend Priscilla. It was an impromptu event, which usually turn out better than well laid plans. Of course we have a lot to talk about with the upcoming wedding. How lucky we are to be friends and soon in laws.

Our favorite Bloody Marys started off the day.

A swim and then sun. I decided to spare y'all the swimsuits.

Good but healthy foods. We all 3 have blood suga issues. Candy and Lucy stopped by for a nosh. Well of to the graduation and following brunch. Hope I can hold it together.
