Took our Mother's day campout this weekend a week early. Mom brought along some old photos of past camping trips to enjoy. Here is the very first one. We went in a rented pop up camper, which the newest greatest thing in 1963.
This one appears to be the next year. How did Mom and Mamaw keep those hairdos?
Had to include this one at Ruby Falls. How brave was Dad to drive 5 women all over the country with one little pop up camper.
50 years later we are still at it. Sure things have changed. But new traditions are good too. 7 layer dip always starts the festivities.
Brody had a great time.
Breakfast cooks.
Sleepy baby.
He woke up when he realized that he could resurrect last night's fire. Mary Grace was not there as the firemaster.
Paul and Brody struck up a friendship. Paul would make funny faces and Brody would mimic him. We were just dying laughing.
Some may call this a hike, I think it is more of a stroll. We missed Bryan throwing things into the woods ahead of us trying to make us think something was rumbling in the woods.
The lake was beautiful.
Oh, my.
Brody exploring the facilities.
Looks like someone did not understand the sign.
After the walk, turkey burgers were in order.
guess I'll unhinge my jaw.
Yes, this about sums it up. Conversation, baby watching and magazine flipping.
Brody gathered a bucket of rocks and threw them all in the water.
Parker found a stick for every occasion.
Sun down, fire up, s'mores coming
As I turned from this view, a full moon was bright over the cabin.
It was amazing but I could not capture it.
2 armadillos had dens under a tree close to the cabin. You would have thought we were seeing wild African fauna the way we carried on about them.
After we packed up and most drove home, Mom, Jan, Cary, Brody and I stayed for a picnic lunch. This kept the little man on his schedule as he napped on the way home. Cary is such a good mom, patient, calm and in tune with his schedule and needs.
He did so well.
When we got home our cats were happy. Linda sent this.
I sent this.
Sophie sent this.
You really summed it up. Pictures really help to tell the story, but words help too. Good job Amy, MOM
