Where in the world is Leakesville Mississippi? Or Ashes part 2

Hopped in our cars and headed to Leakesville. Which is just down the road a piece. My bedroom.

I felt like I had walked into an upscale B&B.

She has worked so hard to curate and enjoy her Mom’s things. Ripped out old carpet to find gorgeous pine floors. Her brother had these rugs shipped home from China while in the military.

Comfy den.

One of my favorite things are the 3 old fish prints. Anna’s mom bought them at a flea market and they were spray painted gold! Glass and all. Imagine her surprise when she cleaned it off!

She took us for a ride to see some of her property. This is called the beaver dam. Beavers really built it.

Swamp iris. So tiny.

Beautiful swamp. Unfortunately people throw junk in it.

Beaver dam nearing sunset. Home to lots of birds and wildlife.

Anna made us a lovely dinner. Azaleas from the yard.

Ricotta spinach ravioli.

Lemon pudding cake. Made from their Meyer lemons.

We spent the evening telling old Candy tales and looking at pictures. Oh lord, I remember this. Candy cooling off with a margarita.

A photo on the mirror. Us at a happier time.

Anna and I headed home after a breakfast of homemade waffles. Rolled into Hattiesburg just in time for a poboy at Crescent City Grill. It did not disappoint.
