Candy

Just a follow up.  Mom didn’t know what I meant by a Candy charm. It is a charm for my bracelet to remind me of my friend who passed away in January. It is so hard to lose a friend. I’m still sad every day but everyone else has moved on. She was such a big part of my days.

I had to laugh at this because it is Christmas and we are wearing sleeveless tops.

Look at the Princess.

Play time.

If you need me , I’m currently unavailable due to reading the most incredible book. Not for everyone but I love it. Wish Candy was here to read it. Fortunately I have fellow weird book fan , Pam to enjoy it with me.

Let’s start with cute animals.

These two like to be close sometimes.

Ed said he wanted seafood. He got it.

This Kroger shrimp was almost as good as at the beach.

And of course.

Got a “Candy” charm for my bracelet.

Put it next to the badger which represents Lucy.

These guys are back on my porch. They are so cute.

Book Club

It was so nice to do something fun today.

Kathy welcomed us with a beautiful table.

Started with a salad that they had on their last trip to Spain.

Some Spanish wines from regions they visited.

The main dish was Tumbet. A layered vegetable dish. It was so good with the sweet cornbread. The other bread was bread with aioli that they said was often served as a first course.

Book Club bought Mary Grace a pillow like the one she enjoyed at the beach. Ignore the goofy look.

Ordered a charm to remember Jacksonville Beach trip. A white dove/pigeon I saw.

Overnight

Just a quick blog to show how quickly those mushrooms grew overnight. This is the same log pictured in the first photo on the previous blog.

Almost creepy how fast they grow. Some sort of little bugs were rushing around all over them. I guess they were excited about their booming food source.

Fungi

Back to my career as a mycologist.

I have photographed this log many times. It still surprises me at the variety of fungi it produces. These were gelatinous.

On the other end were these fan shaped ones.

Some whole ones looked like flowers.

And on top was this little guy.

It popped off and fell to the ground.

And this one was even tinier.

Further out in the yard on another log they lacked the orange layers.

Always find these gray green ones.

Beauty berry is blooming.

We used to call this poke berry but I think the right name is beauty berry.

Went back out this afternoon to see this.

Home

Loaded up and headed home yesterday.

Then this happened. As a last hurrah to unhealthy eating we got Arby’s roast beef sandwiches and I got a chocolate shake. Back to reality tomorrow.

So nice to see these guys.

Even got back to a little exercising. The pool was very cool.

Look at this big guy. It looks like a fist. Our yard is like a jungle. So wet.

Spider Lillies coming up. They don’t look so good yet. I think it’s too wet for them.

Fungi love the moisture.

Last day

I felt like it was a good sign that I saw the white pigeon / dove this morning on our last day. Went to pick up bagels and there he was.

I later saw him hop to the top of the roof and fly away.

Thanks Buddy.

Went for final procedure and it went well. Hope to get rid of this bracelet soon.

One last look. Headed home very early tomorrow.

Run it under the Munsey

If you read my mom’s blog (and you should) you read yesterday about my Mamaw’s beloved toaster oven. This was before microwave ovens. It toasted things beautifully.

Found a picture for you. Hers looked just like this.  That kid looks like one of my sisters. We used to get such a kick out of Mamaw B saying “I’ll just run it under the Munsey!”  Love you Mamaw. What year was she born? Also there is a link to the Dot Spot at the right of my blog.

This was the moon last night. So bright. Looking at the picture this morning I see a bright planet to the left of the moon.  Will have to get my star tracker out tonight to see who it is. Or do y’all know?

Burrito day

After a rough day getting a lumbar puncture we treated ourselves.

Ryan has had his eye on this place since day one.

It was so cute inside.

Bicycle frames are light fixtures.

More lights made from cassette tapes. What else can you do with them?

They call Jacksonville Beach Jax beach hence Jax Mex. The food was great.

Looked so good I decided to take a walk.

The tide was so far inland this evening.

What interesting patterns the sand and water were making.

The water was continuously reshaping the sand. Well we won’t be coming home Thursday like we thought. Fortunately they were able to schedule her nerve biopsy for Friday. We will then head home Saturday.
