Enjoying fall

Had a fun walk with Jan and Brody the other day.

Ended up at Summertree lake.

Nana and Brody. He wanted to touch the geese.

Fall centerpiece for family dinner. We viewed the Italy pics.

Sophie and Paul's house looked so beautiful in fall colors.

This was on my walk one morning.

Cool weather means spiced cider. Our long time easy favorite is apple juice and red hots.

Lucy gave me a lesson in making Yankee stuffing. They made it in the sink. It contains bread and sausage. It really is delicious.

My Southern dressing for Thanksgiving.

The middle one is oyster dressing. They all turned out yummy. Not too dry!! That is every southern cook's fear.

Being good...

...sort of. Candy and I went to the gym and worked out. Feeling healthy we put together this salad.

Gibbs was interested.

Book Club at Priscilla's.

Well, we do have fun.

Priscilla and Pam welcoming new member Kathy. Gave her a lot of trouble about being initiated into such a hallowed society. Maybe not , (see above)

Sue and Bev.

Yummiest salmon ever. I made it for the family that Saturday night. We got together to see honeymoon pictures. Maybe I'll post some later.

Oxford

I had been promising to take Candy of a tour of Oxford, MS. I love that town. Her friend Rusty is moving from there back to Jackson, so we wanted to visit before he left. Of course we started with my favorite, Ajax diner.

Candy just kept laughing at the southerners getting so excited about food.

I'm a little ashamed of my choices. Dressing, fried eggplant, squash casserole and cucumber salad.

A walk around the square led us to a little chat with Mr. Faulkner.

Cute little cottage on the square.

Shopped a bit in Off Square Books and Square Books.

The Anchorman was there touting his new book.

It was a very cold but beautiful day. The leaves are changing up there.

Rowan Oak was lovely.

As were the grounds.

Checked on the grandogs.

They are doing fine.

Linda was in town while Joe went to a nearby woodturning workshop. Mom and I took her to Saltine.

Big success. Oyster stew and oyster poboy.

Post wedding blues

Ok, having a hard time coming up with blog material. I also have to admit to a little post wedding blues. It was all so wonderful. Now what do I do. I need a job. Ok , I'll cook.

Beef pot pie...excellent.

Homemade soup using all the ends of summer veggies.

Junior...bored

Really bored

Ryan and MG have a house / pet sitter but I have been checking on the animals

Cleaned the chicken coop and rabbit pen. Yuck . I am no farmer.

They are ready for mom and dad to come home.

I have heard from the honeymooners and they are homesick! 15 Days is a long time, but they are having so much fun.

Oh here is a funny for y'all . At the rehearsal dinner Chris was teasing Candy about her shirt. He thought it looked very old world. With a few well placed napkins she began to look like one of my heroes.

John Wesley! Wow, that is her cell phone at her chest not a New Testament.

THE day

Wedding morning. Playing Bananagrams and having Bloody Mary's. Having fun to pass the time, until time.

Ivy getting Lucy ready.

Lucy helping with the boots.

My great nieces, Lorelei and Karis had fun dancing on the porch.

All my sweet friends.

Didn't take any other pictures that night. Can't wait to see the photographers pictures. It all turned out just how they wanted it.

After a day of rest, well except for an Ellis brunch and Patrick lunch, it was off to the airport.

They were so excited. They looked precious in their shirts that Carlye made for them. I think I could have fit in that huge suitcase. Since we didn't get to decorate their car that night, Candy got hers ready for the ride to the airport.

Stopped at Ryan's favorite, Another Broken Egg, on the way. It was Mary Grace's birthday too! The shirts were already paying off. The restaurant paid for their meals! Just heard from them about 7:00 this morning that they arrived in Rome safe and sound.

The day before

Started the events off with a bridesmaid's lunch at Anjou. It was hosted by Sweet mom and sisters. Look how cute Mom and Mary Grace looked.

Mom did a beautiful job with the flowers.

The hostesses

The bride in her special chair.

Next big event...the rehearsal.

Emmi, our great wedding coordinator setting up. Her two little girls only wanted to go trick or treating. They wanted to know why this house didn't have any candy.

Here she is setting us all up. That is Ashley as the proxy bride.

Lanterns on the porch.

Woolvertons hamming it up.

Everything was beautiful.

There was shrimp, crab claws, salad, corn, potatoes and cheesecake for dessert. So I'm sitting here very early (couldn't sleep late), on the morning of the wedding. I'm just so happy and glad the day is really here. Now off to the fun!
