Gone to the dogs

Hope y'all don't get tired of my animal pictures. I just couldn't live without them.

Toby enjoying one of the first fires of the season.

Ed making said fire.

Snack by the fire courtesy of Sophie.

Truffles playing by the fire.

Mamaw loving Dupree. We had lunch and a Thailand slideshow last Sunday.

Amy's 3 pure white cats. Turtle, Lenny and Trixie

Lunch with S&P and MG at Crazy Cat. Crab cakes. We planned out our Thanksgiving feast.

Stopped by the Patrick's to see progress on the screen porch. We plan to celebrate Thanksgiving there. Well, Ryan is up on the ladder and we spot this.

Oh and if you didn't get that then here is this.

The ceiling and paneling look great.

Signs of fall

Sophie had a craving for my Chex Mix and asked me to send her mine. I have honed this recipe for years since getting it from a co worker at Broom Corn Fabrics. It was originally Mitzi's mix but I adjusted it to my taste. You are welcome.

I tucked into Target a few days ago with 20 minutes to kill. There were lovely clothes everywhere if I only had time to shop! Well I returned with plenty of time. Oh, lord. I took 12 items in. Horrible. I looked like a tea kettle wearing a tea cozy in this one.

Candy and I had a day at the Kalalou Outlet. There are always interesting finds there. The winner for this day was this driftwood baby Jesus. And a bargain at $25!

Book Club at Pam's!  Fall is her favorite season. There were little vignettes of beauty everywhere.

The main table had bronze, copper and velvet pumpkins.

Loved the teal one! The food was excellent. I once again gobbled it up without a photo. It was an excellent pork loin, rice consume, palmetto cheese rolls and a beautiful salad presented in stripes of nuts, goat cheese, strawberries and mandarin oranges. All followed by pecan pie.

We finished our day on her front porch. She has a beautiful persimmon tree out there.

We reminisced about our childhood memories of these trees. I remembered that older kids would trick younger kids into tasting the fruit before it was ripe. It was so bitter that it would draw your mouth up.

Love dogs

With Mary Grace and Ryan in Thailand, the doggies are making do with a sitter. I brought them home for a play date.

Dupree.

Daphne conked out.

Looks like we have a new grandog.

Ivy and Tripp got a new puppy. A mini dachshund.

It looks like Cosmo might like a playmate.

Things got a little rough but I think they will learn to enjoy each other.

Just a little neck bite

Gibbs welcomed Lucy home.

He stood on her. Ouch.

Not much info from Thailand but here is a beach they reached by water taxi. That boat IS the taxi.

An early morning walk found this beach.

I requested a picture on her 26th birthday, which was actually a day early due to time difference. They grudgingly obliged. This is right out the back of their cottage. They reported renting a scooter (terrifying) and getting ready for snorkeling. Have fun babies!

More beach

The sun came up and we breakfasted with our beautiful view.

A walk on the beach revealed we were not the first ones there.

The ocean was very calm.

Shells were abundant.

A man shared his catch with us. Flounder and pompano.

Linda and I found a shady spot by the pool to read.

Water was freezing though

 This was the place.

Dinner at a favorite restaurant. Shipp's Harbour Grill. Had been there with friends on a previous trip.

Grouper Ponchartrain. So so good.

I thought I looked particularly fetching in the orchid from the plate.

These palms were blooming everywhere around the complex. The had some kind of fruit or berry inside. I bet the look spectacular when open.

The next big treat was Whitney drove over for the day! We had shrimp at home for lunch and then we took her back to Shipp's for dinner.

Perfect dirty martini for me.

Whitney took a pretty good pic of the old girls.

Our view as we said good bye to her.

I would have to agree.

Our last supper was what Jan called a snack around. Leftover shrimp, cheese, honey crisp apples and good wine.

We talked and talked until dark.

Reflected on a perfect trip together.

Headed out early to try a breakfast place Jan suggested.

The Ruby Slipper, new in Orange Beach from NOLA.

Oh my, so good.

This was Pig Candy. Bacon with brown sugar.
