June bugs in April

Coco is enjoying our outbreak of June bugs. She picks them up while they are still wiggling and tosses them about.

Then she rolls on them. MG said she was savage.

Spiderwort or blue eyed grass blooming along the path.

Given to us originally by Ed’s parents.

Mahonia in different stages of ripeness.

These were so big they looked like grapes.

Never seen the red tops bloom so much.

Their blooms look like snow on the ground.

English dogwood having a good year as well.

Found a new patch over a little hill in back. Losing a few big trees opened them up to more sun. Great story for a sermon.

And my favorite, the violet. I tried so hard to propogate these from Mom and Dad’s house. But they only come up where they wish.  Not in a bed where I wanted them.

Last and least. Tiny yellow flowers no bigger than a pencil eraser. I wish y’all could have seen me prowling the backyard in my gown and robe this morning taking all these. 😄
