So...this is the scene as I write this post. It is early morning and I am in the wilderness that is southern Mississippi, near Leakesville. It is foggy now but promises to be a beautiful day. It will have a hard time topping yesterday.
We are here to celebrate Candy's 60th. As her gift to Candy, Anna offered a weekend at her family's cabin. But let's start at the beginning.
Margaret and I drove down Friday and met them at Momma's house (Anna's that is).
Camellias from the yard to decorate table. Sophie, look at that hammered aluminum basket!
The house was charming.
Furniture like this in every room.
Floors looked like S&P's.
Pulled up to the cabin. It was built in 1860.
Unpacking in the kitchen.
Anna set a lovely table.
Preparing our lunch.
We loaded into this cool vehicle for a tour of the 2500 acres.
Everywhere we looked it was beautiful. There were a couple of albino catfish in this pond. They looked light brown through the coffee colored water. There was even an alligator in this picture.
Cypress swamp.
First sign of spring.
A place to contemplate.
Anna's brother took us down to the river. There were tracks of deer, coyotes and
raccoons leading down to the water.
My what a trip I just took. It was all magical and like something from a dream. I am sure it will stay with you for a long time. MOM
