❤️ Book Club

Pam had us over for February Book Club. She left her decorations up for us to enjoy.

She keeps this little tree seasonal.

A weeping pussywillow

Bedroom tree.

Beautiful table.

Food from Tuk Tuk Boom. My favorite Thai. We read The Lost Bookshop. We all loved it.

The yard

Conditions must have been right for bulbs.  Jonquils blooming like crazy.

Brought some in before the storm.

Even a few yellows.

Rain brought a few sweet shrooms.

So tiny and delicate.

Sandy came home freshly washed from the vet. She had curls above her tail.

42nd 5

Last day. I convinced Ed to try the Midtowner on our way out of town.

After a 30 minute wait, we sat down.

I thought it was great. Ed was not impressed.

One of the fun parts of a trip is coming home and putting your purchases in place. Can’t wait to burn my candle.

Ed really wanted a cutting board.

Need to get a flank steak on there quickly !

The Adam Trest frogs look right at home. Time to go pick up my girls (dog girls).

42nd 4

I texted my Hattiesburg experts and asked “best bbq in Hattiesburg?”. Paul immediately texted back Strick’s. I had already it pulled up on my computer.

Cute place right near our hotel.

Best brisket sandwich ever.

42nd 3

First stop in Laurel was Ed’s choice. Ben’s shop and store.

You can see through a window where they are filming the show. They weren’t today.

It was very cold and windy outside but this still made me want a cold drink.

Next we went to the main store.

Mary Grace asked for a headband. Guess which one she picked. Yellow of course. We got an Adam Trest print to put with our Walter Anderson one from Ocean Springs.

Then we went to the beautiful Scent Libray. It was so hard to choose. You could clear your palate by smelling coffee beans ( also sold here of course ).

The Lauren Rogers museum gave us a chance to get out of the cold.

I love this place. It is so calm and lovely.

Their Chulily is so amazing hanging over the stairs.

And I always love the Japanese prints. This display showed the actual wooden block prints and how they built up the layers to complete the print.

More food. Wilson Commissary. Seriously good chicken and dumplings.

Went to the restroom there and John Travolta was sharing the room with me.

A blonde latte to warm up.

42nd 2

Weather cleared and we ventured out. Let Ed check out the pocket museum.

I just love it. People leave painted rocks. Should have painted one with our anniversary on it.

Valentine sculpture.

So tiny.

A Frida Kahlo display.

Next we went to the library. Wanted Ed to see the beautiful mural.

A kind lady saw us looking and guided us to The Mississippi Room. Floors, trim and columns are made from donated pine. They were cut in the 1830’s and sank to the bottom. They were brought up and used here.

Being underwater makes them gorgeous and hard for pine.

So pretty. Picked up Triangle poboys and headed back before next big storm comes through. More tomorrow.

42nd anniversary

Sandy is glad cold weather is back.

Connie set a lovely table for us at JFF book club.

Fun crowd.

Serious discussion about The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls.

Headed out for our anniversary trip to Hattiesburg / Laurel area. First stop Shady Acres.

Any questions?

After a few scary driving miles with a tornado warning, we gratefully sought safety in our hotel.

Pretty cute room. Will let the weather calm down and decide what to do next.
