Ice dogs

The dogs discovered all the ice breaking up in the fountains.

It was like endless popsicles.

They did this off and on all day.

I need to be sure everyone goes outside for potty before bed.

Occasionally taking a wrassling break.

So proud of herself.

Time to come in and warm up.

Book Club

Sue welcomed us to her house for book club. We had 3 missing leaving us with only 4. Still enjoyed it. We realized one person read the wrong book too. We read Leaving Time by Jodi Picoult. Very good.

Of course everything was lovely.

And healthy. Pumpkin soup.

Bert and arugula salad.

Deviled eggs. Forgot to photo the dessert.  Mystery pie, made with ritz crackers and pecans.

Enjoyed meeting this little guy. Sue’s daughter, Katie’s Maltese. She fell in love with Kathy.

Also check out Ryan in hometown Madison magazine.

Four page spread!

On a day this dreary , there’s only one thing to do.

Bake cookies.

These cookies are so good and dark chocolate. 3/4 cup of cocoa! The dough is stiff.

It is supposed to have powdered sugar but I put regular since I didn’t have the right stuff.

Inside they are soft and chewy.

Coco has started sitting with me some. It makes me very happy despite that look on my face. Sandy was not pleased.

Whenever Coco gets pets she has to barge in.

Made chicken fried rice! It is brown rice so it looks a little different. Well the dogs are out playing in the wet backyard so I better go grab a towel.

Highs and lows.

Lows in the 20’s one day. Poor frozen fish.  They were fine. Didn’t turn into fish sticks.

Back up to the 70’s and raining. This is how the rest of my day will look.

Successfully made Beef broccoli.

From naughty…

To nice. Snuggling with her bunny on one of the cold nights.

Juju was not amused with them playing all around him.

Dog stories

How about a couple of dog stories. They get repeated over and over here.

It started like this. Sandy pushed her way into being the little spoon. Coco is not entirely pleased.

Then Juju joined.

She was relieved when she got it back to herself.

Then Sandy came back.

Then Coco was getting a little pet from Dad. See Sandy’s reaction.

Then Coco decided to chew a toy.

Discovered.

Steal.

Look at that side eye. Poor Coco.

Wrap up

Well…I didn’t get any pictures at Christmas. Even though all three girls and spouses were here and Linda and Joe. We had a great time and much good food.

I did take this one when they first arrived. Amy 2 had stopped by.

Sandy fell in love with Tripp and would not leave him alone.

Did get one lousy pic of family gift exchange. Had to have a tv fire because it was 80 degrees.

If you were wondering how Mom’s little angels looked here is one that flew to Candy’s house.

Ivy has gotten interested in Jadeite. She wanted a picture of my collection. She scored big by getting me the two soup bowls on the right.

I told her these mugs are my favorite. The story is that me grandfather was a cabinet maker and got these when he was working on a cafe downtown. Wish I knew which one. Maybe Mom can add to that story.

Stole a tradition from Linda and Joe and had lobster for New Year’s Eve.

Rounded it out nicely.

So I mixed up some Texas Caviar to have while watching the games. Watching Alabama is so boring. They always win. With the bulldogs you never know.
