Score

Amy2 and I went to 3 fruit stands looking for okra. Didn’t find any that looked good. But I did get lady peas, speckled butter beans and baby limas. Also a gorgeous eggplant, bargain bag of squash and a Chilton county peach.

Mushrooms!

Not super impressive but looks like a cauliflower on a stick.

Little red one

All were tiny but trying hard.

Wild strawberry. I remember as a kid trying to sweeten and eat these. Not good.

This was someone’s dinner.

These looked like toasted marshmallows.

Great day at church. Rob was back in the pulpit for Pride Sunday. As always , made me laugh and cry.

Nailed it with pork stir fry.

First watermelon of the season. Very good.

Garden tour

So…I picked up Mary Grace to go help at church with the Gayrage sale. They had lots of help and really didn’t need us. We walked around and then headed to Sophie and Paul’s house.

The Fondren Bottle Tree garden tour was also today. S&P were number 23!

Cute side yard welcomed us.

MG was ready for the hot weather.

Welcoming tables with peppers holding down the flyers.

I enjoyed seeing her using Candy’s things.

Candy loved her little cityscapes.

Sunflowers are crazy big.

Not sure how they can cut them!

Onions harvested and set to cure. Then we set off to cool off at Tuk Tuk Boom.

June Book Club

First a tour of the yard at Sue’s.

It was all so beautiful. These pictures don’t capture it.

Even the garden was pretty.

Even the appetizers were color coordinated.

Table was lovely.

Food was healthy and good.

Ice cream with lavender topping.

Summer for sure

Not a great picture but can you tell what month it is from this pic? I have to scoop out several June bugs every morning swim. Usually birds come in to dine at the bug buffet.

But today a mallard couple came in to visit

Nancy had lovely food for us at JFF Book club. We enjoyed Secret Life of Sunflowers about Vincent Van Gogh and his sister-in-law who brought his paintings to view after his young death.

I know y’all must get tired of my food posts but this was really good. Mexican grilled chicken, Spanish rice and black bean and corn salad. That is homemade crema I concocted on the side.

Picklefest

Yes, Picklefest. Mary Grace and Ryan have been looking forward to it. They love pickles.

Even ordered tshirts to wear.

Fun photo op

Me too!

It was at the Ag museum and it was HOT.

The woodworkers were in the air conditioning.

Tiny bird feeder.

Ryan had to try a Koolickle. A pickle soaked in cherry koolaid. I thought it was awful.

Proud grandparent…

…to a tomato.

Sophie grew this giant , delicious beefsteak tomato.

Also these sweet tiny green beans.

Today I’m cutting this purple beauty.

Y’all , it’s as big as a softball.

It became this.

Haven’t decided what to do with all these peppers. Grandvegetables are so nice to have.
