Final birthday event

I chose brunch at Hal and Mal’s. S&P love it and they were not wrong. So it was just McNeils. Yes. That is a pitcher of super crunchy tater tots along with hollandaise sauce. 

Smoked salmon dip. 

My meal (and I’m still stuffed 3 hours later) was fried oyster eggs Benedict. It was great.

Birthday festival continues

Book club birthday with MG and Amy2 added. Old Capitol Inn. 

Crab cakes were my choice. Had our sweet waiter, Tatiana. 

Made a wish. I take birthday wishes seriously. 

We sat around moaning about how good the bread pudding was. The chef said the secret was in the soaking. 

Beetles

Not the music group but the bugs. 

Washed up in my goldfish bowl. He was ok and toddled off. 

This one was a classic.

Summer food

So glad to have summer produce. Tiny baby squash, pink eye peas, Sophie’s okra, cornbread and chicken. 

Zinnias from Sophie’s garden. Watermelon in background was perfect. Went to the old farmers market off West street.

I’d mixture but maybe not. Fresh shrimp, lady peas, eggplant casserole and pickles by Mary Grace and Chris. Chris grew the cucumbers. 

He has so many. I was the third drop off!! Want some? Let me know. 

Finally book club

We have missed 2 months of book club. Too busy to get together. Hate that. Well we reconvened at Pam’s house. Delights all on the way on the path to her house. 

Yard was beautiful.

Ever get a craving?

Got a gift of some fresh cheese tortellini. Made me think of a beloved recipe from this cookbook. 

Cynthia’s first cookbook. 

I’ve made this many times for gatherings and book club but wanted it for our dinner. I halved it. 

Yum yum. Paired it with some homemade carrot soup from the freezer and bread. 😋
