Soft food

Following minor oral surgery, I was ordered to eat a soft diet. Day 1 I couldn’t have hot food.

Pistachio pudding. Would have been better if I didn’t have to pick around the nuts. Lukewarm tomato soup and cottage cheese rounded out the day.

Finally figured out how to use my little silicone egg poachers.

Things looked up on day 2. Jan brought Chik-Fil-a chocolate shake.

And wonton and egg drop soups. Everybody needs a sweet sister.

In other ice cream news, the girls have mastered ice cream from a spoon. Ed gives them the last bites.

This brave little moss branching out in this heat.

Ed scared me to death working in 100+ degrees. Our little bridge rotted.

The help wanted to knock off early.

She loves her dad.

And…the hole is back.

Dry

What is sadder than a dry fountain?

Two dry fountains. We finally just had to give up on keeping them filled. The water evaporated so quickly every day. I love the sound of bubbling fountains. I guess it’s my love of water. My mom has always been afraid of water so I’m grateful that she made sure all of us girls learned to swim. Tons of swim lessons, great days at the country club pool, even living on a lake that we could swim in were things she made sure I had. So I’ll just hope for rain and swim daily in the neighborhood pool.

Jill had a lovely cold lunch for us on a blistering hot day. We read Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver.
Wow , it was rough but good.

I just love how she uses her beautiful silver, china and crystal.

Pepper found his perfect fit.

Y’all try to relax like Sandy.

Birthdays… not all they have cracked up to be

Met this cutie this week. She was rescued by my friend. She was found with her leg chewed off. Possibly from being caught in a trap. She now has a cute prosthetic leg.

Sorry for the graphic image. 🤭 But this is Ed’s birthday card for today.

Ha ha!! He’ll get his favorite meal tonight. Fried chicken gizzards and livers.

Babies

First my babies.

Sofa hole again.

These tiny baby squash

Felt like I needed to cook them almost whole.

Also baby okra. Guess I just robbed the vegetable cradle.

Accompanied by speckled butter beans. Aren’t they pretty?
