Nick names

Have you ever thought about nicknames? For most people that means a short version of your name. Right? In college we all called each other by the first syllable of our names. Well not so for pets. The more you love them, the longer the name. We had a pug named Spike that everyone loved. He had more names than a member of the royal family. He was Spiker, Pugafina, Sir Walter Pugsley and even The Woo the wooody woo. See what I mean? Toby becomes Toblerone, Tobafina, the Prince and the Chi chi. Truffles the big dog is no exception and will come to Truffy, Trufflely, Girlie girl, etc. Well I've got a cold so am sort of watching old episodes of Walking Dead with Ivy. Wow ya gotta love those zombies... I guess

Blustery day

In the words of Winnie the Pooh , ( and he was a wise bear) it was a blustery day. I really
like winter days. I love the bare trees against the gray sky. Not to mention the fact that I am not burning up! Bagels with longtime BFF , Vick ( Vicki to you)  Really good lunch with daughter
number 3 and boyfriend at Kismet in Brandon. Great gyros and fried mushrooms. Scraped up enough
scraps and sticks to eek out one more fire. I'm really going to miss fires. Took flowers to a special
friend who lost her husband at St. Catherine's . Have to give grandog Dupree back tonight. Sigh...

This really is funny

ok here is my story and I'm sticking to it. Last week MG (daughter 2) and I decided to create new blogs for ourselves. I picked a name that I thought was cute. Experienced a little disappointment when the title - it's all funny was already taken. So I rallied and decided to change to - it's all funnie, right? Well after several days of fooling around with my new blog, I kept seeing another line that said - it's all funny. So I click on it to see who the blog belonged to....guess who?! It was me in 2009 or so!! Now those of you under 40 may find this alarming, but the rest of us can only laugh. Should I delete it or post on it as some alter ego. Wow ...just saying

Grandog visit

Please disregard the old lady in the background and focus on precious dog
Ok, I'll admit that I always thought that people were a little nuts talking about their grandogs. That was before I had one. Enter Dupree, the cutest little shelter dog ever. See? We get to keep him a couple of days while Mary Grace is out of town. He, Toby and Truffles have a lot of fun.

Junior's opinion of the visit

What about the Oscars? Seth McFarlane was pretty funny and a bit caustic. But what could we expect from the king of potty humor. I just got done looking at all the best and worst dresses. I know, I know it's ridiculous but I get some sort of satisfaction out of the bad decisions. And one of the best parts when looking at the pictures, just take a peek at the people behind the actress or actor. Talk about bad decisions! I think my fav of the night was Christopher Waltz for best supporting actor in Django. His calm role in that movie is what kept me from going crazy with all the violence.

weekend

Ok, quite the exciting weekend! Ed ventured out and invited me along on his occasional jaunt to Mac's for meat. And if this wasn't enough craziness for one day...we went to Walmart too! After much consternation in the panty aisle (he in the men's , me in the ladie's of course) we each came away with a pack. You think that is all? You would be very wrong because my sweetie treated me to lunch! After a few of my subtle suggestions went unoticed, we sailed into the elegant drive through at McDonald's. When a few questions cleared up the fact that the McChicken sandwich really was still on the $1 menu even though it did not appear on the display, our menu was set..

Did our taxes Saturday...

Had daughter number 2 and boyfriend over for steak that turned out to be pretty awful. Hope y'all come back. Great service at Broadmeadow UMC followed by daughter number 1, son-in-law and Mom at Mr. Chen's . It is really the best Chinese in town. Did some yard work. Our goal is to take out one dead or dying azalea a week. Ed was proud of the fact that he beat the quota by taking out five. Ok, ok it wasn't all exciting. Then we sat on the deck and enjoyed the great weather and our dogs antics. See how cute he is, even after 30 years.

Here is Truffles on a non stormy day. You gotta love that face.
Here she is napping with the evil one.

storm coming

Looks like a huge storm coming our way. That means Truffles, our big dog is cowering under the computer desk. It also means I am trapped with an OPEN box of samoas. Well I managed to hold the total of consumed cookies to 5 so far since yesterday. Dang their caramely, coconutty goodness.

Girl scout cookies lurking

So can anyone think of a good reason why I should choose walking in the cold
over eating  Girl Scout cookies in my chair?     I thought not. They were just
delivered yesterday and are lurking in a brown box which covers their bright
packaging. Purple for samoas, red for peanut butter patties and best of all cool
green for thin mints. I know if I crack one open it is a slippery slope into sugar
oblivion. Well, the evil cat sits right on the arm of my chair and he is no help.
He will bite me if I try to pet him. What use is that? Isn't that in his job description?
Family Pet for heaven's sake! Ok ok I'll go walk. But when I get back...cookies are going down
